Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

This place wasnt too bad... it was dead when I went in there put picked up throughout my meal. Staff is friendly and their food has good quality. Was out in a timely manner (I would imagine because we were the only people in there). They have strawberries on their menu.... hehe. Kinda funny for a mexican restraunt. I really liked it here and will definately be coming back.

Overall, it was pretty disappointing. I went to eat there as a family group, looking at previous ratings. The atmosphere was dead and drab. It smelled badly. The salsa tasted like Campbell's Tomato Soup. I ordered fajitas. The tortillas were clearly store-bought. Yuk. The meat looked kind of questionable, so only ate a little. My husband had enchiladas. The corn tortillas were hard, cold, and uncooked. Oh yeah, and the waiter came back to our table 4 times to clarify each adult's order, one at a time. He was clearly unfamiliar with the menu. Mostly, it was edible food, but mediocre, at best.

I've had Mexican all over the country. This is below-average standard Mexican fare. It's like the school lunch folks had a picture of Mexican food and tried to make it. The picante sauce that came with the chips tasted like tomato soup with some Tabasco sauce in it. The salsa verde sauce was just pureed tomatillos. The point being, the whole plate -- taco, enchilada, chile relleno, rice, beans, was lacking the spicing and depth of flavor most other Mexican joints find pretty effortless to achieve. don't get me wrong -- it was fresh, nicely plated, decent portions for the price. The service was friendly and attentive. The food just lacked the level of flavor customers deserve. I wanted to go back to the kitchen and explain what cilantro and cumin could do for them. Sigh.

MEH. Got a combo platter. Edible, yes... there was nothing on it that I would order again. The salsa is not much different than Campbell's tomato soup in taste. Queso was not bad but tasted the same as the Queso sold at the Wal-Mart cheese section. I would eat here again IF I were meeting friends but it's not worth going out of your way.

We have tried almost every Mexican restaurant in this are and La Fressas is our favorite. We love their fajitas for two and their chip and salsa never stop coming.
